Marta Dragičević Prtenjača was born on December 13th, 1980 in Zagreb. She graduated in 2004 at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. She enrolled in the Criminal Justice Postgraduate Study Program in 2004 and made her PhD in 2014 on the topic of „Criminal perspective of passive bribery in Croatian legal system“.
She worked as a law trainee (2005-2007), a research assistant (2007-2009) on the project "Criminal justice prevention of corruption and organized crime", and was an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Criminal Law, University of Zagreb (2009 - 2014); Senior Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty (2014-2016); Assistant Professor at the home Faculty (2016-2021) and currently is Associate Professor in Department of Criminal Law, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb (since 2021).
She is a member of several national and international associations, vice-president of the Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences, a member of the Croatian Association for Criminal Science and Practice, as well as of the European Society of Criminology, and was an active alternate member in the Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption ICC-Croatia (International Chamber of Commerce-Croatia).
Also she has participated in the work of the Commission for Corporate Social Responsibility and Anti-Corruption of the ICC-Croatia, at the ICC Headquarters in Paris, France, Paris, 11-14.11.2015. and 16. -17.3.2016.
She participated in the drafting of several laws and their amendments, the present-day Criminal Code (as an external associate to the working group for drafting Criminal Code OG 125/11), and its amendments in 2018 (OG 118/18, full member of the working group for the Amendment of the Criminal Code 2018), and also the Law on the Legal Consequences of Conviction, Criminal Records and Rehabilitation (OG 143/12; full member of the Working Group on the Drafting of the Law on the Legal Consequences of Conviction, Criminal Records and Rehabilitation) and today (in 2021) is member of task force for its amendments.
She was a member of the IPA-2008 project " Improving the Capacity of the University System to Create a Framework for Preventing Discrimination and Corruption Targeted at Improving Academic Integrity” (2012-2013), also she participated as a researcher on the Multidisciplinary Research Cluster on Crime in Transition - Trafficking in Human Beings, Corruption and Economic Crime”, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (subsequently: CSF), was a researcher on the Economic and Industrial Espionage in Germany and Europe "WISKOS" - Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law approved and funded by the German Government and currently is a researcher on Innocence project in Croatia today (subsequently: CroINOP) funded by HRZZ and the project "Transitional Justice Research Network", funded by University of Zagreb.
Additionally, she participated as a lecturer or participant in scientific conferences and courses at home and abroad (see CROSBI).
She teaches collegiums Criminal Law (lectures, seminars and exercises), Juvenile Criminal Law and Misdemeanor Law on Integrated Graduate Studies, as well as other courses that hold the Chair of Criminal, if needed.
At the postgraduate level ‘Postgraduate Specialist Study in Criminal Law’, she teaches the courses of Criminal Law- General Part, Criminal Law -Special Part and Misdemeanor Law, and at the Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Criminal Law, teaches Criminal Law -General Part, Criminal Law -Special Part, Young Persons in Criminal Law, and Misdemeanor Law.
She was a mentor in the preparation of 50 graduate thesis and one doctoral dissertation.
She was a member of the Expert Committee of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in the process of selection to the scientific title of scientific research associate in the field of social sciences, scientific field law, scientific branch Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Criminology and Victimology (class: 640-01 / 16-22 / 8, no: 251-55-16-19)
She has passed the bar exam, published several (about 28) scientific papers (independently and in co-authorship). She is fluent in English, with passive knowledge of German and French.
