English for Law V is an elective advanced course. Judicial decisions of English courts and judgements of the European Court of Human Rights are analyzed. Topics from civil, criminal and international law are discussed. The knowledge of English law of contract and related terminology is applied in the analysis of Carlyll v. Carbolic Smoke Ball Co. English criminal law and terminology is outlined in the analysis of ECHR judgment Tyrer v UK. International law and terminology is outlined in the analysis of The Rainbow Warrior. Various judgments of the ECHR are analyzed. The focus is on legal terminology, written and oral communication skills and understanding the structure and style of legal texts. Different reading strategies are acquired. |
